The Foundation of Successful Online Teaching & Learning series was collaboratively developed by MSU digital pedagogy experts and Okemos Public Schools. This series is designed to help teachers understand and adopt the mindsets of successful online instructors, the core principals of meaningful online learning experiences, and the best practices of online pedagogy.

The College of Education released a free massive open online course (MOOC) in March to help schools with the rapid transition to remote instruction. While the course was designed for supporting last spring’s rapid shift to remote teaching, many of the tenets can be applied to the longer term online learning environments districts now look to create for fall. Participants in the course can get Michigan Department of Education SCHECHs for completing this self-paced, asynchronous mini-MOOC’s eight modules, all of which were created with the support of The Master of Arts in Educational Technology Program.

For those interested in more in-depth study the College of Education offers a 3 course (9-credit) Graduate Certificate in Online Teaching and Learning that focuses on thoughtful and skilled online teaching in-depth. In all of the courses, participants apply theories, strategies, and pedagogical practices directly to their classrooms through a variety of activities.
